Abstract
Objectives: This purpose of study was done to identify the relationship of to self- control, life stress and smart phone addiction and to identify predictors of smart phone addiction of university students. Methods: The research design for this study was a descriptive survey design using a convenience sampling. Data collection was done using self-report questionnaires with 306 university students in G and S city. ANOVA, t-test, Fisher`s exact test, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression were used to analyze the data with SPSS Win 18.0 Program. Results: There were significant differences in gender(t=-4.90, p<0.001), major(t=5.86, p<0.001) by smart phone addiction. Smart phone addiction had significant positive correlations with life stress(r=0.350, p<0.001) and negative correlations with self-control(r=-0.261, p<0.001). The explained variance for smart phone addiction was 27.3%. Variables of self-control and life stress significantly predicted the degree on smart phone addiction of these university students. Conclusions: Findings of this study provide a comprehensive understanding of smart phone addition and related factors in university students. However, further study with a larger random sample from various living environment is necessary.
